How to appreciate the hard parts in life

Hello again my love.
How has your 2022 been so far?
Incredible I hope!
Mine has been interesting.
I will say, I’ve never felt more grateful for my own life coach than I do right now. For some reason, I’ve experienced a lot of negative emotion in the first couple of weeks of 2022.
It was like I woke up one morning and everything that usually kept me grounded in the present moment, all suddenly stopped working.
That’s ok. This is life. It’s not supposed to feel easy all the time. Right when we think we have everything figured out is usually right about the time when change and growth come roaring in.
I find reprieve in knowing I have a safe space to take all of my problems once a week for much needed perspective and realignment.
You might say I’ve had to go back to the basics this year. And a good refresh of the basics is always an amazing idea.
So today we’re going to talk about step one of the basics:
How to appreciate the hard parts in life.
What is the value of appreciating life exactly as it is right now?
What happens when we let go of the idea that life is supposed to be easy all of the time?
It’s important to check in regularly and ask ourselves—am I truly enjoying who I am right now? Or am I wanting my life to be different somehow, some way?
Wanting things to be different, or believing they should be, causes intense emotional suffering.
Sometimes the answer we are desperately looking for is just recognizing that the way life is in this moment, is exactly the way it should be.
Nothing has gone wrong.
It’s so easy to appreciate life when things are going well. It’s so easy to feel positive when things have worked in our favor.
But when we start to assume it should always feel easy and positive, we do ourselves a giant disservice.
What if sometimes it’s supposed to feel really fucking hard AND we aren’t supposed to try and change anything about that?
What if it’s supposed to feel hard AND we actually appreciate these difficult moments and find the value in them?
Here’s what we constantly do as humans…we stop loving and feeling excited about everything we are THE MINUTE negative emotion arises.
We believe negative emotion = something has gone terribly wrong with me.
This is a thought error friends.
You have permission to remain excited about your life and still enjoy everything about who you are EVEN during the hard times.
My love, what if the hard parts just mean you’re right on track?
Your friendly coach,
Ellicia
